Scalextric Spares And Spare Parts Supply Has Improved In 2010

I found this article written by Lee Catherine which I think you'll agree is good news all round!

This year we are pleased to be able to inform you that the supply of Scalextric spares and Hornby parts has improved no end. Now all Scalextric and Hornby are available to be order and in stock within 3-5 days. This improvement means that there is no reason to bin any old and damaged cars or trains, you can simply refer to the wide range of Scalextric and Hornby service sheets to find the part that you require then with a little tender loving care you can repair your pride and joy. Simply consult the Scalextric or Hornby website and select the correct service sheet for that item that you are looking to restore, this will give you a details breakdown of each part that it is made from. Generally Hornby serviced sheet spares start with an X and 4 numbers.

Whereas Scalextric spare parts start with a W and 4 numbers then contact your local dealer and you should not have to wait long before you can bring any damaged item back to its former glory. Some service sheet numbers may stare with either a R for Hornby or a C with Scalextric and these items are stock items and should be in stock with your local dealer. With thousands of spares required for the ever expanding range of cars, trains and other items that Scalextric have been expanding since production has moved to China the rate of newly available products has increased no end but Scalextric/Hornby have managed to be able to supply a vast range of spares for all. The range of spares only dates back about 5-7 year for Scalextric any car older than that you will have to hunt high and low to find the relevant spares. Although older products are not as detailed as the current range of items and this has increased the demand for spares to be available. We recently visited Hornby where we were informed that their range was being cut down a small bit in certain areas. We believe that this will help improve supply, which has been a major stumbling block for them over the past few years. We believe that once supply problems has been resolved this will help the company continue to expand and continue to offer items that have been almost an institution for every child when growing up or for any adult that may have missed out. Overall the improvements are a great for collectors and users alike. We hope that the improvements are only a sign of things to come from Scalextric and Hornby and are looking forward to see what they are set to release soon. If the Scalextric 6 car powerbase is anything to go by then only good things are set to arrive on the scene.
