How Good Is The New Top Of The Range Digital Scalextric Pro Gt C1242 Set?

The Scalextric pro GT digital set C1242 is their new 2009 release which supersedes the old World championship set. This time Scalextric have moved away from the fragile formula 1 cars and replaced them with four GT cars.

The set contains all you need to start racing for up to 4 people. With four hand controllers and 4 digital cars all ready to race. Digital racing is a far better experience than the old analogue racing that you may have known as a child. With the 4 cars racing on two lanes and lane changing is controlled by a button on your hand controller it makes for an exhilarating driving experience for all the family.

The track is the X3 layout which is Scalextric's second largest layout and their largest digital track. The set contains 2 lane change sections of track in an extended offset figure of 8 track. Other feature is a lap counter to keep track of who is winning the race....and an elevated crossover that bridges the crossover section of the track.

Later this year there will be a 6 car powerbase available to allow all digital tracks to be upgraded to allow up to 6 cars to race at once this will create further excitement with digital racing. Other features of the 6 car powerbase are that you can have ghost cars racing on the track, therefore you can race without friends. Detailed lap times are another feature of the new powerbase. We would suggest that if you wish to race 6 cars at once then we would suggest extending the track as their will be little room to race without the constant distraction of endless crashes.

All Scalextric cars supplied come with working front and rear lights, magnets fitted as standard to help keep the cars on the track. The 4 cars contained in the set are probably the four biggest sellers over the past year with attractive liveries is the main reason for their demand.

Overall Scalextric digital Pro GT set is the best value for money set that you can purchase from Scalextric the set would cost in excess of £450 if all the items where to be purchased separately. With tougher cars than the previous top of the range set makes this set far more suitable for younger drivers allowing for a bit of rough and tumble that would be expected with the fast and furious racing that a digital layout provides. The set will be popular with older Scalextric fans and the younger generation. The digital aspect of the set will help keep you entertained for many hours plus with the option to add one of Scalextric's track extension packs to the track to help extend the layout subject to the space available. Another option could be to add the new Scalextric 6 car powerbase to the track to allow even more cars to race. We would recommend this set to anyone who has the money to spend.

As with all Scalextric sets it is always best to spend as much as you can on them as you will benefit from more track and better cars and overall better value.
